A FRESHER FINISH

The little routes that make a big difference.

Paths, steps and side passages are often overlooked until they become heavily stained or slippery when wet. Careful exterior cleaning can help remove surface dirt and organic growth on suitable materials.

We look at the full route, including drainage, edging, steps and joints, because these smaller spaces may have their own access and runoff challenges.

WHAT WE CAN ASSESS

Common areas and surfaces.

Suitable work, subject to inspection

  • Garden paths and front approaches
  • Concrete, brick and suitable stone paving
  • External steps and adjoining hard surfaces

Things worth knowing

  • Cleaning does not make any surface permanently slip-resistant.
  • Fragile or loose paving needs assessment before cleaning.
  • Runoff and access may limit what can be done safely.
BEFORE WE QUOTE

A useful quote starts with a few details.

Tell us approximately how large the area is, what it is made of, how it is accessed and whether there are stains, loose joints or existing coatings. Photographs can be arranged separately if needed.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions about this service.

Can you clean a narrow side passage?

It depends on access for equipment and hoses and how wastewater can be managed.

Will the path stay clear of algae?

Organic growth can return, particularly in shaded or damp areas.

Can uneven steps be washed?

Surface condition and trip hazards need assessment first; cleaning does not correct uneven construction.

PATHS, STEPS & PAVING

A clearer, safer-feeling route through your outdoor areas

Garden paths and entrances need different attention from a large patio. They often pass beside borders, fencing, walls and thresholds, and may contain narrow steps or uneven surfaces. Cleaning is one part of looking after them; surface damage and trip hazards need separate attention.

Front paths and entrances

Moss and algae tend to collect where there is shade or poor drainage. A considered clean can improve appearance and remove loose surface build-up, but it cannot make uneven paving level or guarantee that a wet surface will not be slippery.

Garden stepping stones and side passages

Restricted access, delicate bedding plants and small drainage channels can make narrow routes more difficult than their size suggests. The equipment route and water supply should be considered before agreeing how to clean them.

Steps, thresholds and edging

Cleaning close to door thresholds, loose copings and mortar joints requires care. Older steps may have fragile edges or repairs that should be flagged before any pressurised water is used.

PREPARATION & AFTERCARE

Why the detail of a path matters

See how enquiries work →

Please include the approximate length and width, whether there are steps, and photographs of any tight access points. A route that can be reached from the street is different from a path behind a property with no side access.

Tell us about uneven slabs, cracking, loose edging or previously repaired sections. Where those are present, cleaning may need to be adapted, postponed or excluded from the work.

After cleaning, regular sweeping, managing nearby leaf litter and keeping drainage points clear can help reduce the speed at which organic build-up returns. Persistent pooling usually needs a drainage solution, not another wash.

SERVICE QUESTIONS

Two more things worth knowing

Will cleaning fix a slippery path?

Removing algae and surface deposits may help, but it does not guarantee slip resistance. Texture, slope, wear and wet conditions still matter.

Can narrow or enclosed paths be cleaned?

Possibly, but access for equipment and safe control of spray and runoff must be assessed before promising a method.
